My review of Chowking – A well known Chinese restaurant on this side of the world, mainly the Philippines. The food here is decent, with a variety of food options on the menu. I feel that the food here is of course, not authentic since I am part Chinese, but nonetheless it was still a tasty meal from this chain.
It is supposedly a Chinese restaurant, but I have found Filipino desserts in the back of the menu and that is definitely not Chinese. I guess they brought it over from when the restaurant was opened in the Philippines.
The seafood platter was interesting as there was a mixture of shrimp, squid, sand lobster, and fish. It was actually pretty delicious, even though most of it was deep fried, it was different from the usual fresh seafood that I get from restaurants.
My avocado shake was so smooth and rich in the avocado flavours. The ice cream that came with it kind of ruined it because I like the original avocado flavours and adding that extra sweet ice cream made made it too sweet for me. Next time I will definitely hold off of the ice cream.
This restaurant deserves a rating of 3.5/5.
I ordered the seafood platter for 49DHS, and the avocado shake for 17DHS.
The pricing of the food here is typical for a non authentic Chinese place.
The service that I received here was slow, as it was busier during the time I was here.
The ambience of this restaurant looks like your typical fast food setup. There were booths along the walls and tables in the middle of the restaurant. The decor is very simple here and the furniture was plain.
