My review of Waka – serving Latin American cuisine, this restaurant has opened my eyes up to brand new flavours that I never once had before. I was impressed with everything that this restaurant had to offer.
The del mercado, (seabass), dish was extraordinary and there were so many flavours all in one dish. The seabass was soft and juicy, and it was cut into small pieces so more flavours of the sauce were absorbed into the meat. The crispy calamari was mixed in with the seabass, and became soft once the sauce was poured in. The sweet potatoes were a nice touch to complete this dish.
The camarones a la piedra, (tiger prawns), was wonderful as it was prepared at the table and was cooked on top of hot stones. The aroma that the sauce gave off was mouthwatering. I could see why this dish was decided to be made in front of you because the aroma itself was something you cannot miss.
I loved how fresh the quinoa sliders tasted. The patty was made out of mashed beetroot encased with crispy fried quinoa. I actually enjoyed quinoa made this way, as it was not bland and it works better than most fried batter. This dish is perfect for vegetarians.
Finally, I was glad I got to try some of the dessert as the manager ensured that it was something unique. The 3 leches was beautiful to look at and also beautiful for flavours. The sponge cake was moist and the 3 milk sauces was perfect. I loved the passionfruit sorbet so much since it was rich and creamy.
This restaurant deserves a rating of 5/5.
I ordered the guacamole for 45DHS, del mercado for 65DHS, salmon for 60DHS, camarones a la piedra for 190DHS, quinoa sliders for 55DHS, watermelon salad for 48DHS, 3 leches dessert for 45DHS, and the passionfruit & dark chocolate mini paletas dessert for 65DHS.
The pricing of the dishes here were not bad for the type of food served here.
The service was perfect and our server worked hard to keep our table clean and explained every dish thoroughly. I was impressed with the quick delivery of drinks and how our plates were changed after every second dish. The manager was very friendly who was able to recommend excellent dishes for us to try.
The ambience was impressive as it was decorated wonderfully with Latin American props and had a fun feeling to the atmosphere when you enter the restaurant.
