My review for Tomo – Literally meaning long time friends, this restaurant definitely was authentic and after our amazing dinner tonight, I will be going back a whole lot and will become long time friends with the staff members there.

Serving excellent Japanese cuinine, I found that my overall experience was outstanding and I loved almost every dish that I had.

The takosu, or known as the vinegar soaked octopus, was interesting but was not really for me as it was fermented. My husband likes fermented dishes, but I found it too strong.

I enjoyed the kani jiru, or known as the king crab miso soup, as this was more flavourful than the regular miso soups. The king crab was a nice added touch, and even though it was a bit tough to eat due to being overcooked, it was a delight having it in the soup.

I order the rainbow roll at most Japanese restaurants and the one served here was excellent. I decided to go with the crispy option where they lightly fry the roll and it made it better. This rolls consists of prawn tempura, tuna, salmon, yellowtail sashimi, with mayonnaise and avocado.

I loved all of the dessert choices that I ordered, but the one that stood out to me the most was the Tomo parfait. This dessert had vanilla ice cream, rice cream, red beans, and fruits. I loved how each of the ingredients complimented each other and each bite was so refreshing and delicious.

This restaurant deserves a rating of 4.5/5.

I ordered the takosu for 44DHS, ika nattu for 48DHS, kani jiru for 58DHS, sake sashimi for 72DHS, rainbow roll for 132DHS, taraba kani for 150DHS, green tea mochi ice cream for 32DHS, shiratama zenzai for 38DHS, and the Tomo parfait for 55DHS.

The pricing of the dishes here were reasonable for a fine dining authentic Japanese restaurant.

The service that I received here was wonderful with friendly staff members who were dressed in Japanese server kimonos making the restaurant feel even more authentic.

The food and beverages came out in a decent amount of time. With all of the requests that we had, everything was perfect and this showed that the server paid attention.

The ambience of this restaurant was beautiful with decor reflecting what you would find in Japan. The aroma was inviting with it smelling a whole lot like the restaurants in Japan from when I was visiting.

We sat outside on the terrace with a stunning view of the Dubai skyline. The weather is now perfect to enjoy your email outside sitting on the floor, or also known as the tatami, which I found to be super comfortable.

This restaurant is located on the 17th floor in the Raffles Hotel.
