My review for Hakkasan – I have finally got a chance to experience an authentic Cantonese cuisine restaurant and Hakkasan was everything that I had hoped for. I was limited to tasting the dishes from the Only At Dubai menu, but I was happy nonetheless with the quality of each dish that I received.
I couldn’t eat any of the dim sum dishes in the only at menu, so I was able to order the vegetarian steamed dim sum instead. When this arrived to the table, I was already impressed at how delicious it looked. The platter had crystal dumplings with truffle beancurd, olive crystal dumplings, and the mooli and yam bean dumplings. Each one of these dumplings were crafted perfectly and the filling was just superb.
The poached turbot fish was perfect. I was impressed to have tasted some pineapple as it gave the fish more of an acidic taste. The spicy Kaffir chilli sauce was not too spicy, it was almost like a sweet chilli sauce.
The fried golden tiger prawns were outstanding and I was very happy to see that the fried batter on the outside of the prawns were thin. The orange dressing sauce was tarte and complimented the prawns wonderfully. The added macadamia nuts were a nice touch as I love them.
Finally, the best for last, which was the stewed Boston lobster. I wanted to know what sauce was served with this dish, but it’s the chefs secret and all I can say about it is that it is creamy and tasty. The lobster was excellent, and the chilli peppers were a lovely touch as I enjoy dishes spicy.
This restaurant deserves a rating of 5/5.
I ordered the vegetarian steamed dim sum platter for 122DHS, poached turbot fish for 197DHS, fried golden tiger prawns for 152DHS, and the stewed Boston lobster for 285DHS.
The pricing of the dishes served here was standard for a well known Michelin star restaurant.
The service that I received here was wonderful where the supervisor and the restaurant manager were great hosts.
The head server was also very attentive to our table where she was always making sure that our finished plates were cleared and that the food was coming to the table in an appropriately timed matter.
The ambience of this restaurant was modern and I was impressed on how large the restaurant was. The restaurant had outdoor seating, a bar, along with smoking and non smoking seating inside.
