Ichikura – Dubai

My review for Ichikura – Even though this restaurant is located in the food court, the quality of food is well above what you usually expect from the food court. Serving popular dishes from Japan, I found the flavours were close to the authentic dishes that I had in Japan.

The takoyaki was the highlight of the appetizers as it was made beautifully with actual octopus meat inside. I loved the fish flakes that were added on top, where it was just a perfect topping to add to the delicious takoyaki balls.

The adegashi tofu was nice and firm that came on a pool of a very delicious sauce. I was happy to see that the tofu was not mush where I am always facing with when I have tofu from the food court.

The tempura had a good ratio between the batter and the vegetables as well as between the shrimp. These were made right where they were crisp on the outside, with the vegetable and shrimp perfectly cooked in the inside.

Finally, the green tea cake was stunning in both the presentation of it, and the same went for the taste. Out of all the flavours of the mochi, my favourite was the coffee one as the taste of the coffee in it was strong.

This restaurant deserves a rating of 4/5.

I ordered the adegashi tofu for 15DHS, takoyaki for 28DHS, tempura for 30DHS, green tea cake for 18DHS, and the mochi (strawberry, matcha, mango, and coffee) for 8DHS each.

The pricing of the dishes here was decent for food court Japanese style food.

The service that I received here was not good at all. The staff behind the counter was better at serving me, after I said greeted them first, I basically had to approach them first because they did not say hello or acknowledge me with a smile when they saw me.

The ambience of the restaurant was eye catching with their large and bright signs. The Japanese colourful mural was the first thing I saw when I approached the place. Located in the Metro Link part of the IBN Buttata mall, I found this a good place for those who wants to stop by for a quick Japanese fix.
