My review of Babaji – this is a Turkish restaurant that offers excellent and authentic tasting food. With a successful branch in London, I can see why this restaurant opened up here in Dubai.
The caramelized onions & walnut pide, (pide is a Turkish flatbread,) was absolutely delicious. The pides here are made on the spot with their wood stone ovens, and the resulting flavours are fantastic. I loved how cheesy the filling was, and the walnuts on top added the extra boost in flavour.
The oven baked halloumi was not bad at all here. The halloumi was seasoned perfectly sitting on top of a light tomato sauce to keep it juicy. It was great to see it sizzling when it arrived at our table.
The roasted eggplant was delicious. I have never had it prepared this way, and I found that the flavours of the eggplant were more lively. However, I did find that the presentation of the dish was very simple.
Finally, the sultac dessert that I had was divine. The rice pudding was soft and it wasn’t too sweet. I loved how it was gooey on the top from the chocolate. The nuts added more crunch to the pudding, so it balanced out the softness of the rice.
This restaurant deserves a rating of 4.5/5.
I ordered the caramelized onions & walnut pide for 45DHS, oven baked halloumi for 30DHS, roasted eggplant for 30DHS, lentil soup for 25DHS, beetroot salad for 35DHS, and the sultac rice pudding for 25DHS.
The pricing of the dishes here are great.
The service was wonderful with the staff members being really into their jobs. Our server was very attentive to the table. The food and beverages came out quickly which was great as I was hungry.
The ambience restaurant is beautiful, with the exterior looking modern. The interior was unique with an exposed mocktail bar and pide station with the wood stone ovens. This restaurant is located in the CityWalk area.
