My review for Sizzling Wok – this restaurant serves popular Asian dishes with an Indian twist. Of course, I would rather have the dishes that I ordered for dinner at an authentic restaurant, but sometimes, I just want to expose myself to how another cuisine presents each item.
The prawn dim sum was presented nicely in a bamboo steamer. The amount of prawns packed into each of the dumplings were great to see.
The lobster was not bad but it was grilled with a creamy white sauce and I do not really like lobsters prepared this way. I love the natural flavours of the lobster and this method of preparing the lobster made those flavours disappear.
The prawn malay curry was my favourite dish of the night. The curry was thick and creamy and had just the right amount of heat for anyone who is sensitive to spices. I prefer my curries extra spicy, but it was nice to enjoy a mild one for once.
Finally, the prawn pad Thai was bland and could have used way more sauces and seasoning. The noodles were cooked well nonetheless and I had it with the curry so it did not go to waste.
The rating I am giving this restaurant is 3/5.
I ordered the prawn dim sum for 44DHS, lobster for 132DHS, prawn malay curry for 64DHS, and the prawn pad Thai for 40DHS.
I believe that the pricing of the dishes here was what would you would expect for this cuisine.
The service that I received here was wonderful where all of the staff members were always paying attention to our table even when it started to get busy.
The food came out fast and our drink orders even faster. This was great as it showed that the restaurant really wants their guests to enjoy their whole experience here.
Our tables were always cleared promptly and wiped down. It was great for the servers to change our plates after each course, as most restaurants do not do so and that bugs me.
The ambience of the restaurant was very Asian inspired with lots of red colours here and there. The Asian decor was lovely and was a nice added touch. It was nice to see the aquarium in the middle of the restaurant, where it gave the restaurant more life. Sizzling wok is located in the Citymax hotel in the Bur Dubai area.
