La Tablita – Dubai

My review of La Tablita – I was able to stop by this mexican restaurant for the launch of their new drunch event happening every Friday from 4pm – 6pm. What is drunch you ask? Drunch is basically a late brunch but to basically continue drinking with light food. The drunch consists of unlimited margaritas and cantaritos. Also for food options it includes ceviche, tacos, and caldos. Of course live entertainment is available from the Mariachi band.

I thought that the drunch was a fun idea but the choices of food were very limited as it was just snacks to go along with your drinks. The margaritas were great but took too long to come to the table.

The food that I was able to eat that was included with the drunch, were the black pepper mushroom soup, shrimp ceviche, sea bass ceviche, and the potato taquitos. My favourite was the black pepper mushroom soup as it was rich in flavour.

I had the opportunity to try some of the a la carte items as drunch was coming to an end and I was barely full as I thought there would have been more food.

The salmon ceviche was rich and sliced like sashimi. The jalapenos were a great touch as it gave the salmon a hint of heat.

I loved the vuelve a la vida as it had shrimp, scallops, octopus, and oysters. The presentation of this ceviche was grand and was so appealing. Everything in this ceviche was just perfect.

I was a huge fan of the enchiladas when I was visiting the resorts in Mexico and I just had to try them here. The enchiladas were covered in cheese and cream and filled with delicious shrimp.

Finally, I was obsessed with the churros of course. The churros were perfectly prepared with a beautiful crisp texture. The cinnamon was lovely and the dip was sweet.

This restaurant deserves a rating of 4/5.

I ordered the drunch with alcohol for 199DHS, tiradito de salmon for 55DHS, vuelve a la vida for 90DHS, camarones al ajillo for 55DHS, enchiladas costenas for 55DHS, churros for 30DHS, and the tres leches for 35DHS.

The pricing of the dishes served were not too shabby for an authentic mexican place.

The service was a bit slow during the drunch with our drinks taking a long time to come to the table. Once we started ordering a la carte items, the service was much better.

The ambience of the restaurant was truly mexican inspired with the various mexican decor all around the place. The sombreros were a nice touch. Located inside the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Garhoud, this was an easy restaurant to find. I really enjoyed the Mariachi with the singer going around to each table and he places the sombrero on your head while he sings so you can take a picture with him.
