Al Bahou – Iftar – Dubai

My review for Al Bahou – this was my first time at the Movenpick IBN Gate Hotel and seeing how the iftar buffet was set up, I was pretty impressed with how large and open it was.

However, as a pescatarian, it was a little difficult for me to enjoy a variety of items because the buffet had more different types of meat than seafood items.

The items that I could eat and enjoyed were the vegetable spring rolls, fish with rice, wok fried noodles, vegetable lasagna, beetroot rice, and the seafood rice.

The spring rolls were a nice start to my iftar dinner where they were crisp and tasty. I have always been a fan of spring rolls and it’s my go to comfort food. I was glad to see that it was vegetarian as it was served in between two chicken items in the buffet.

I liked the grilled fish on a bed of rice, where the fish was still moist and juicy. I noticed that most fish items served in a buffet becomes dry over the night, but the rice really helped seal the juices in.

My favourite item from the buffet was the beetroot rice. This was something I have had never seen before yet here in Dubai, and I love anything beetroot.

I noticed that I had mostly carbs for dinner because there was a limited amount of protein items I could have. So on top of the two rice dishes that I had, I might as well go above my carbohydrate intake limit and try the wok fried noodles as it looked appealing. It was served plain but would be a good side to go with any of the other buffet dishes. The noodles were al dente and had the right amount of sauce.

This restaurant deserves a rating of 3/5.

I ordered the iftar for 185DHS per person.

The pricing of the buffet here was an amazing deal as the selection was quite large.

The service was great where our server was attentive and even with the place being busy, she never forgot us once. She was on top of her game in getting our juices and any buffet items we needed.

The ambience of this restaurant was beautiful and filled up the whole lobby where the different restaurants are located.

With large overhanging lanterns, the place really lit up and really brought out the beauty of the different food items served in the buffet.

I loved how open and grand the set up was, where the buffet carts were lined up and as I was walking down to take pictures, the buffet seemed to never end.
